Beauty in Shadow

14 Apr

I’m back from a lovely sunny few days in Somerset with Anita De Bauch and am now sitting down to catch up on my emails and organise my next tours, which will be Berlin, Ireland, Manchester and Norfolk.

First though, I’d really appreciate your support with a couple of things I’m doing. Pay attention at the back there! πŸ˜›
1) I’m in a competition to win a custom-made latex catsuit!! (As you may guess, this is something I would love to have.)
All you need to do is click the link here and click ‘vote’. That’s all. No signing up to anything.
http://www.latex.at/en/all-models-voting/?id=187

2) I’m in the running for the award of “Fetish Model of the Year”! If you could please follow the link here and vote me as highly as you think I deserve, that would rock as well! It’s a little less user-friendly- you need to cycle through the pictures, which are displayed at random, but the plus point is that you get to see more beautiful ladies.

There you go! Any help would be appreciated.

So, as the days are getting ever-so-light now, I struggle with conflicting wants and wishes! On one hand, I love the clouded days in which I write with a mocha nearby. On the other hand, I sit on my roof and watch the world go by on sunny days. It’s only then that I can truly get to know the creatures and life around me- and on that note, Mr Toots the kingfisher is back! Apparently he returns on bright days so I’m staking out the bank.

Somerset rolled with the hills, caves and gorges we lack in Milton Keynes and apart from seeing one of my best friends “in her natural habitat”, it was a relief to finally shoot outdoors again without fear that I’d freeze to death! So many lambs everywhere, lovely food, kind people- and we found a slow worm in the garden. Look at her little face!
WP_20150410_18_17_33_Pro
Anita christened her ‘Fern’ and I added ‘The Turbo Snake’- in case she has a complex about being a slow worm. (They are neither slow nor worms- they’re legless lizards.) πŸ˜‰

I also saw pipistrelle bats flittering around at dusk! I couldn’t capture them on my slow phone, but it’s lovely to see them again after what has felt like a long winter. They’re the smallest found in Europe and a friend of mine used to call me a pipistrelle when I was a thirteen year old Goth…Β  a teeny tiny little bat. Ha ha ha!

Another thing I’m noticing more and more is that the sunsets are drawing out and are even more orange. Despite the Spring frolicking I’m doing at the moment, I can’t help but think it would be perfect for a Film Noir shoot or two in London, or maybe a Milton Keynes underpass. (Just a quick snap taken outside Wagamama…)

I love the moodiness and atmosphere of Film Noir shoots! I shot these back in January with David Morley, in Saracen House studio.

A lot of you have been asking about the petition results from my blog “Between My Legs”. Sadly, petitions about Jeremy Clarkson were more popular and now that the general election is upon us, politicians have better things to do- like bitch and moan at each other on National television… I’ll blog properly about the wider issue when I have a little more time, but I promise this is not forgotten.

So, for now I am going to enjoy the light and practise not feeling guilty for being out in the sun. We humans do need our sunlight hours, after all. And when the shadows lengthen, I’ll write my little socks off (when I’m not stretching, that is. I can get my foot under my chin now!)
These were taken by Simon P Shaw last year, in Blackbarn studio and perfectly capture the peaceful kind of darkness.

p.s. I just got a message from another of my best friends- the olive-skinned gypsy nude model Madame Bink. I’d like to share her blogpost with you- please have a read and see if you can make her smile today.

Shiny Happy People!

27 Feb

Today is a good day.

It’s seven pm and I’ve done no ‘busywork’ whatsoever so my laptop’s not going to know what hit it in a second, but it’s still a good day.

– My latest article’s out! I wrote about the perceived abuse in 50 Shades of Grey. This meant I had to read the book. (Utter torture- there’s masochism and then there’s writing so excruciatingly bad I wanted to gather all copies up and chuck them in the canal.) Anyway, read this!
– I visited a secret nature reserve with one of my best friends- we saw tiny ponds full of tadpoles and the place rang with birdsong. We also visited a windmill that had been virtually on my doorstep the whole time- I’d never known it was there!
– I remembered ‘my’ issue of Marquis magazine is out and that I should tell you about it! It features me wearing heavy rubber, seriously shiny pictures and some of my favourite latex outfits yet… πŸ˜‰
– It’s day 4 of the “Roswell Ivory detox” and I’m feeling less sluggish and full of energy! (I’m allowed one treat a day and today’s was a big slice of ginger cake, with crystallised ginger on top).
– Maybe it’s the detoxing, but I finally achieved front splits gymnastics style! (I’ve being doing it ‘dancer style’ for years so have had to completely retrain my hips). Success!
– One of my best friends in the world has published her long-awaited book, in which I appear!! You may know her- she’s the chameleonic Anita De Bauch and you simply must buy it: CLICK HERE

– Mog is on my knee, purring.

Last year, Marquis asked to publish some of my work, so I had the perfect excuse to dash off to Belgium, play dress-up in heavy rubber and bounce around a gorgeous designer apartment with photographer Kinky Style. I then got bonus shots during Dominatrix (my favourite crazy kinky working weekend) with photographer and friend Belinda Bartzner.

Belgium really is full of beautiful sights, which I sadly lost when my phone died!! Still, I’m back in a couple of weeks for more tourist fun, and anyway, these photos live on. I’ll post the other sets soon… πŸ˜‰
For all you catsuit, corsets and inflatables fans, check out the BEWBS! I nearly posted these on April Fools, with a “look, I had secret surgery” message… but I couldn’t wait that long. πŸ˜›

I may have mentioned before, Dominatrix Weekend is my Euro family reunion! Though it is a working weekend and I’m always running around for photoshoots and fashion shows, I get the chance to catch up with my model and photographer friends that live far away. Generally, madness ensues and we can all let our hair down… so to speak. πŸ˜‰

Here are a few snaps from previous years:

… so the morning after an all-night pool party, Belinda and I checked we were still alive (we were) and got ready to shoot one of my favourite dresses, by Yummy Gummy. There’s a character in my second-favourite trilogy (The Wayfarer Redemption) who wears a dress made of the blood of her enemies… and this is mine! πŸ˜› But much sexier though.

Don’t you just love these shoes?? I’m going to shoot just a few more times in them, then I’m going to customise them. Watch this space…

It’s time for a coconut milk mocha and a few pages of my mystery drama book (the one I’m writing, not reading.) πŸ˜‰

p.s. A few of you have been asking when my steampunk novella “The Marius Conundrum” is out. The answer is “I don’t know.” Sadly, the owner of the publishing company is in need of a heart transplant and must, of course, put her health first. She has disbanded the company for now, reverted the publication rights to me, and I’m now looking for another publisher.
Should I not find one (novellas are hard to publish), I will self-publish BY THE END OF THIS YEAR. Wish me luck, and if you think you can help this endeavour in any way, please get in contact.

Springing sundial

20 Feb

So I’m back on the Mothership and catsitting now I’ve returned from a mini tour, and what a fantastic week it has been! πŸ˜€

– I went to visit a friend’s new home, full of curiosity cabinets, tea, skulls and wood/glass sculptures… and stroked a chinchilla for the first time. They’re strange little things- like living marshmallows!
– I did a photoshoot in a tranquil, friendly yoga studio, with yet more tea and artwork everywhere. On the pinboard was the yoga students ‘weekly thought’ and interestingly it was something I needed to read:
Aparigraha: Greed rooted in jealousy. For example, wanting more than you need just because someone else has it. I’m proud to have very successful friends and of course I’m happy for them, but often evaluate my own accomplishments as not being enough, so it was nice to see a reminder that this is a thought pattern I need to let go of.
cee2495e65ced38215b862ea5b2d76ae
– I met a couple of friends I’ve spoken to online regularly but never actually met in person! It’s always a bit nerve-wracking but we got on like houses on fire and I hung out with a gigantic dog too. πŸ˜€
If you have a sense of humour, do check out my friend’s creative endeavour: The Beezly Street Gazette. It’s a Daily Mash-esque satire and really very funny.
– I attended an engagement party for my beautiful Kitty Wood Photography and “Beardy Stu”… and I’m now a bridesmaid for the first time! During that weekend, I became a mermaid, dressed like an 80s rockstar, ate my bodyweight in sausage rolls, lost a French Fry crisp between my boobs and got the hideously early coach back home then flopped into bed. Congratulations to the happy couple! πŸ˜€
Here I am with the bride- who has a great blog HERE:
10169297_10152769053308460_4087796566842593888_n
– I nipped up to Manchester for a quick shoot (the hostel made me feel very at home- on a riverside with Canada geese and boats) and arrived back to a very cuddly, very clingy Mog.

Today’s been a day of chilling and though I will be answering emails etc over the next week, I’ll be a little slow as I’m enjoying some much needed downtime. Hope you understand. πŸ™‚

In my last blog, I hoped that the preview would work and bring some Spring warmth… and it’s worked! There are snowdrops everywhere, daffodils are peeking out above the earth, catkins hanging on the trees and though it’s still chilly on the boat, I’m not as deathly freezing as I was and my hot water bottle is sulking redundantly in the corner. I even went for a long riverside walk and had a ‘singing’ conversation with a robin.
So here are some more pictures from the awesome Follyhouse team, who I’m planning my next shoot with. Hooray!

For the latex and heavy rubber people, why not check out Marquis Magazine on the 25th? There’s a feature and several pages of yours truly wearing the shiniest of latex. I’m so, so excited to show you those pictures (and my new shoes). πŸ˜‰

Now, I’m going to have a Zen-stretching session in front of the fire I just made . I shot with Sense8 Photography the other day and for the first time on camera, achieved this!!! (In yoga, it’s called the Compass or Sundial pose). I cannot wait to shoot this pose in latex and may have the chance at Dominatrix Weekend next month, where I’m stomping the catwalk again!

Shining noir

29 Sep
Shiny.
1.
Radiating light; bright.
2. Bright from reflected light; glistening.
3. Having a sheen from being rubbed or worn smooth.
4. A good thing- expression of contentment (Firefly ❀ )

So, I have a different kind of shiny for you below- I’m in PVC and being all film noir!

I would have loved to tell you all about my contortion class yesterday but there was a bit of drama on the tube and things went a little downhill. (A businessman fainted and so my eating-before-class time was taken up with ambulance-related waiting and ‘make sure he isn’t going to kick the bucket without telling him I’m terrified’ chat.) I decided ‘what the heck- I’ll go bending anyway’, nearly fainted myself from foodlessness, had an embarrassed sniffle in a baklava bar and decided I’d try again on Wednesday. (Forward walkover, here I come!) Don’t go too long without eating, folks! πŸ˜›
By the way, it was motion-related and he was fine. Yay!

Ahem…

A few of you have asked whether it is possible to see the leaderboard for the award I am nominated for (Europe’s Best Up and Coming Fetish Model). I’m afraid it isn’t so we’ll have to wait in suspense…
If you haven’t voted already, please do so- there are under 30 candidates- I really do have a good chance here and you’ll get free prints out of it! And my happy smily face too. πŸ˜‰

Here’s the link again: http://www.dominatrix.nl/models/model/621
And pleeeease share it- or at the least, my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Roswell-Ivory-model-and-writer/152654844767588

Earlier this year, I did a Heavy Rubber and PVC shoot with Keital, who brought with him a fantastic array of outfits and an assistant who tried his hand at modelling later! I’m more used to latex fashion so the challenge of doing something different is good fun- especially when the team wanted to make use of my wigs and styling skills.

We started with this pretty raincoat, which I would happily wear outside in a rainstorm! (You can’t see here, but there was an umbrella design and little diamantes to look like raindrops aroundd the hem).

m6kkc9NgXKwfN-dmlXtFumJjxglPjSbzMN1IQxzIF9o

And then I played with this trippy umbrella while attempting my first victory roll up-do. I may have to get the umbrella too- I saw a whole mackintosh made from the same material while in Covent Garden the other day.

_XwzTqg5N_LVx_51gi7EfQ4P6swe2qd6KcR5tAA32c0

I do like the way black wigs work when wearing an entirely black outfit. A flash of red hair can work well too, but I have a soft spot for this wig. πŸ˜‰ Note the ballet boots, which I can now stand in!

And what heavy rubber themed photoshoot would be complete without a gas mask??? So I got under the shower.

i09XdpIwtuNo7eUHYwF1lWxx3oDZpBGq3gCZJ2n2ZQs

That really is steam rising from me- I like it when studios have hot showers. I hear that the pool Vogue uses for water shoots isn’t even heated! Lucky me! πŸ™‚

I’m going to go and make some dinner now- I’ve been cooking a lot recently as I stay with friends. It’s nice to cook for lots of people. πŸ™‚
Today, I’m making a yummy, moderately healthy kale, lentil and bacon dish.

Speak to you soon!
