Mayday Mayday!

16 Apr

Okay, it’s not that bad, but I am living on dry land again as my poor little houseboat has a hole in her! I got to drive her for the first time in beautiful sunny weather surrounded by nesting moorhens and secret sculptures among the willow trees. Okay, it was back to the boatyard to get her craned out again but still, the journey was lovely. ;)

It’s even a beautiful Spring day on land!

As I’ve been working on making my boat ready to live on, I haven’t had the chance to do much posting or blogging sadly. Sorry about that! I’m trying to catch up, I promise.

Though it’s a hectic time, I do love to travel and I can’t wait to watch for bluebells on this journey! If you are a photographer and interested in booking me for a woodland, riverside or any kind of Spring photoshoot then get in touch as soon as possible- I am a busy bee and only have the days listed below free:
April: 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th (Available anywhere)
May 5th (Available anywhere)
11th (Wales)
16th, 20th early-4pm (Dublin)
27th, 28th, 29th, 30th (Available anywhere)

I’m eagerly awaiting my new pair of New Rocks- I fell in love with them while modelling for the company in February (which was a modelling dream come true!) You’ll have to wait to see the boots in question but here are a couple of backstage pics…

Spiky things picked up from the floor? Don’t mind if I do…

I found myself performing onstage in a special latex fetish show with Amarantha the latex goddess- bringing her to life from her shiny cocoon, then discovering I had bitten off more than I could chew! ;)
I hadn’t expected to do more than a fashion show that night, let alone anything bendy- so it was a nice surprise and good reminder that I love to perform onstage. (Hint hint… keep an eye out for exciting plans this year).

As I may have mentioned before, I draw things, paint and use chalk pastels as well. I am really happy to announce I am now taking commissions for pets, children, car, socks, anything! ;) If you or anyone you know would like a personalised hand-drawn picture by yours truly, please get in touch!
Fixing my boat has been a more than a little costly and it would be lovely if I could give you something in return for any generosity.
A5 pictures are £20 (and P+P)
A4 pictures are £30 (and P+P)

Here are some I made earlier… and of course I will post more when I am reunited with my sketchbook.

- I play a Maenad-like creature in an outfit of my own creation
- I visit the woodland with Pirate Photography and produce some of my favourite pictures yet…
- I play the submissive in leather
- I talk to Kinkly magazine about life as a fetish model
- I get terribly proper and have a chat about manners! Ooh-er! ;)

Have a wonderful day!

To you, good news.

23 Sep

Hello everyone!

I recently have had some really very lovely messages and presents from fans so wanted to say thankyou. To the active followers (those of you I know in the comments), and the lurkers too (I get over 10,000 views a month- I know you’re out there!) Thankyou.

This is a job in which you must always be active- even if you’re having an ‘off’ day, people need to remember who you are and it really is lovely to know that even during those times you guys check in and keep reading. This is not a down time- I’m a very happy lady right now and it’s time to share my good news.

In 9 months time, I will be giving birth…

TO A NOVELLA!!!! :D

That’s right- the story I told you about in my entry “Urban Decay” is one of only four novellas that have been accepted for publication in an anthology of steampunk stories! Isn’t that awesome!?
I will of course keep you updated on here and if you’d like to keep track of my writing news, subscribe by clicking the button in the right hand column.

I also have some modelling news- I’ve been nominated for “Europe’s Best Up and Coming Fetish Model” Award! It has made me so happy to even be nominated, and I have decided that if I reach the Top 10 list, I will give away TEN FREE PRINTS to celebrate! :D
For me to get into the Top Ten, I need your help- you need to vote for me.

1) Go to this link and click “Vote for Roswell Ivory” http://dominatrix.nl/models/model/621
2) Confirm the vote in your e-mail inbox.
3) SHARE the link anywhere and everywhere and spread the good word.

Some of those nominated have a gazillion fans- I have a slight disadvantage here! But if you all vote and share along with me, I have a fighting chance and I like fighting chances. ;)
LET’S DO THIS!

Remember, fetish is not just about latex fashion (that’s what I’m writing about at the moment) and to recap some of my many adventures in fetish modelling, have a lovely selection of pictures…

Monsters

18 Aug

I’m researching my next novel at the moment, which involves a lot of gory crime scene reports and crimal psychology (especially sexual psychology). I’m not easily freaked out by that kind of thing but following a discussion a few posts ago (“Rape is not just about sex”), I have successfully been disturbed by ten year olds. (I read the Jamie Bulger case notes). Despite any similarities between the murder and Child’s Play 3, which sounds a ridiculous film, I am still unconvinced that it played a direct role in the killing. Regardless of the age rating of a film, you have to be pretty disturbed to recreate the scenarios in the first place. Whether people are born evil and whether the boys should have spent the rest of their lives in solitary is another matter… It’s the kind of thing I debate in my head and then write about.
EDIT: Nietzsche said: “He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.” I can see how this  can happen- how one can be desensitised to horror. Photography is a prime example- it must be easier to look at famine and war when it’s through a lens- it’s just TV, your job is to record it. (That isn’t to say that all photographers become cold hard bastards- the man who took the hideous vulture/child picture killed himself afterward).

I (and many other writers) take a slightly morbid joy in writing death scenes. It isn’t real- I’m not actually disembowelling that guy… but to create a pretend person only to murder them shortly afterward is a very strange thing when you sit down to think about it! I’m a very visual person- I love writing any kind of description actually- nature, food, clothing, personal appearance… (I hate sex scenes though- there are just not enough words in the English language, which contains the word ‘moist’ which I’m still forgiving it for.) So here I am, sitting down to kill someone (and procrastinating, which meant my mind wandered off on a tangent, and now here I am blogging instead.)
I want to create the next Hannibal Lecter, Norman Bates- I want a character who will be mentioned time and time again by reviewers and fans. I want to disturb people- it’s horror-esque crime after all! The thing is, people are freaked out by different things- the ‘safe driving’ advert with the little girl coming back to life never got anything from me except an eyeroll. The Daily Mail posted a video/photo the other day so disturbing that it made me cry. (If you’re a regular reader or know me personally, you’ll know that is rare. Both the crying and the Daily Mail reading- I followed a link.) As for freaking out? The character I made is a woman. I am hoping one of the first women in fiction to kill for anything other than monetary gain or revenge, which I hope will make readers look twice. That’s all for spoilers- you’ll have to read it when I’m done. ;)

If you fancy reading something that may or may not be an extract, there’s a teeny bit of something I wrote on here:

As always, there are pictures of me below, and I happen to be wearing Cthulhu- indisputably a big scary monster and drawn as an octopus-y squid thingy. (By the way, giant squids have only been accepted as fact for a decade or two! I remember reading debates in paranormal magazines- now they’re crossword answers in wildlife magazines. This fact may only be awesome to me. Forget I said anything…)  :P

Make-up/hair/styling: Me
(been wanting to share these for ages- I couldn’t until Alternative Revolution came out as some were featured)

This is also Zivity teaser- if you’d like to see the whole set, the pictures are right HERE and if you aren’t on Zivity, you can unlock the set for $2 (that’s about £1!!)

Fetish vs Feminism?

27 May

Welcome, new readers from The Frisky and xoJane!
If you’re an ‘old’ reader, you’ll remember my blog in response to the memoirs of a nude model known as “Anonymous”… well, I contacted the magazine in question and they requested a piece from me about being a fetish model. It went live a few days ago- so here you are:
“I’m a Fetish Model”, written for The Frisky magazine.

Now, the Deep Down and Kinky Awards are upon us and I’m up for nomination. If you could please take the 30 seconds it takes to type my name in the “other” option in the modelling category, it’ll make me such a happy lady. Thanks in advance. CLICK FOR THE FORM

I’ve just returned from a tour of Ireland and while there I was asked by several different people how it is that I can be both a feminist and a model of the nude and fetish variety. It’s a question that baffles me; I have never considered my beliefs that contraception/abortion should be free and accessible to all, that women and men deserve equal pay, that remaining childfree should be acceptable and that women should fight for the rights of those without the luxury of a voice to be incompatible with having my picture taken for a living.

A friend of one of the team mentioned exploitation- don’t make me laugh! Someone desperate for money and uncomfortable with nudity but agreeing to show her body for some cash? That is exploitation (provided the photographer knows her situation, of course.) However, I choose to model in this way. Can one really be exploited when one makes such a choice every day? And that, really is what it comes down to. Choice. Is the cornerstone of feminism not choice, after all? The choice to work, the choice to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, the choice to wear tight jeans and still expect courtesy, not catcalls?
While I have been saddened to see a few acquaintances discard their friends and interests in favour of marriage and children, I do respect that while not my choice, it is no less valid. It is not exploitation by the mass media, or any other scapegoat I can pull out of my butt and blame. I also have made a choice and any feminist should respect my right to make it.

I feel it does women a great disservice and is patronising to claim that just because I feature in images tied-up and playing submissive roles, I am somehow in need of help and re-education. (Not to mention, the fetish scene also has a substantial market for submissive men, who feature in images just like mine.) The implication is that I cannot think for myself. The idea that women like me need saving or shepherding toward a different idea of womanhood is just as damaging as the rigidity of the 50s.

Disagree with my lifestyle all you like, but fight for the rights of women who need such help for I am not being exploited. I am a fetish model and a feminist, and I see no conflict here.

(Plenty more where that came from). :D

Now, I’m going to continue advertising for my Eurotour, which starts in just a couple of weeks! I’m so excited to return to Germany and not be exploited :P as well as seeing my Swedish friends and bouncing around Belgium for the first time.

Keep an eye out here for my further adventures…

Ponybright and proud.

6 Feb

Hey everyone!

I’m back at the Mothership, lighting a fire to warm my freezy little bisexual hands. I got up late, as I’d had a late bisexual night, I ate my bisexual breakfast and now, I’m writing a bisexual blog entry. (And three guesses what I’m about to write about…) ;)

For those of you who don’t know or aren’t in the UK, I’m very proud of my country today as UK MPs have voted in favour of legalising gay marriage by a landslide. Currently, gay people are allowed to have what is called a “civil ceremony/civil partnership”. It entitles couples to the same legal rights as a “married” couple, but is not called a marriage. Until recently, civil ceremonies could not be conducted in places of worship and did not include religious texts or hymns.

I have enormous respect for the real, historical Jesus Christ, in the same way that I respect the teachings of the Buddha and the Dalai Lama as I believe that all religions have something good to teach the world. In light of this, I believe that a man who preached an overwhelming message of love no matter what and defended marginalised members of society (at that time) would be disgusted at the hypocrisy his legacy has sometimes provoked. Jesus himself said nothing about gay people, and the two people in the Bible who mentioned it in any way also preached a whole lot of crazy that is now discarded. The MPs who used outdated quotes to vote against this ruling have no valid argument. None.
Anyway, back to my bisexual coffee…

One of the best things I have read is a statement by Liz Feldman:
“It is very dear to me- the issue of gay marriage- or as I like to call it, ‘marriage’. You know, because I had lunch this afternoon, not gay lunch. I parked my car- I didn’t gay park it.”
The term is now ‘equal marriage’, I think. (And hopefully one day, it will just be ‘marriage’. ;)

Well done, UK- I’m so proud of you!!! :D

And so, as I have no rainbow pictures (that’ll change soon as I have plans), I will post the next best thing…

You can’t tell from the pictures, but we were fighting against a mini-sandstorm and I kept getting blown around! Much fun though, as always. Berlin is most definitely one of my favourite cities- it’s the only place I could walk around dressed like that, with a bendy whip and not get stared at too much.

I’m off to have a chat with some magazine-y types now, so will speak to you soon.
Oh, and while I remember, I hear that a certain few fans of mine have been petitioning to put me on the cover of Skin Two. Thankyou guys, that is enormously flattering and utterly awesome. All I can say is keep it up, lol!! You’ll be the first to know if your advice is taken. :P
If you want to join in, my feature is here: http://www.skintwo.co.uk/roswell-ivory-model-and-writer/
And their twitter is here: https://twitter.com/SkinTwo

Oh, and one more thing! Can anyone recommend anywhere lovely (and preferably not too expensive) to visit in the Edinburgh area? I’m touring again as of the end of this month and want to see amazing things while I’m on the road.
